What kind of environmental impact doeas the European tourism have?

To answer this question, a proper standard measurement protocol is needed. Unfortunately, there is a lack of common metrics across Europe to measure and compare tourism’s impacts on our environment.

If we do not know how we are doing, we cannot plan effective measures to reduce negative impacts and boost positive ones.
To take a step forward in the right direction, the commission expert group for tourism ecosystem T4T (Together for Tourism) organised the workshop “Measuring EU tourism environmental impacts” that will take place on the 12th of March from 10:00 to 12:00 CET.

During the webinar, participants will discuss environmental indicators and analyse the current situation. The event is free and the programme and the registration link are available on the webinar’s webpage.

TExTOUR: a journey across sustainable cultural tourism in Europe and beyond

TExTOUR is a project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020, from January 2021 to September 2024. It sees the participation of 18 partners, coordinated by Fundación Santa María la Real, from 13 countries, covering all the sections of the social innovation helix (knowledge, business, society, government, and entrepreneurs).

TExTOUR shares its achievements and resources for the future of sustainable tourism

TExTOUR is an EU-funded project that aims to co-design pioneering and sustainable strategies for cultural tourism, intending to improve disadvantaged areas in Europe and beyond. Through the experience gained in its eight pilot sites, the project has developed tangible results, recommendations and methodologies to increase the benefits of tourism on local communities.
